Registration for the 2016-2017 School Year

Kindergarten registration will take place January 3rd through January 13, 2017 at the Earl D. Taft Early Learning Center, 16 Granite St. Uxbridge. Registration hours are from 9:00 – 2:00 p.m. Our kindergarten program is full day.

In accordance with the School Committee Policy J1,File JEB, the minimum entrance age for kindergarten is 5 years of age as of September 1st of the year the child enters school.  Please have your child's birth certificate, proof of most recent yearly physical, immunization records and proof of Uxbridge residence (any recent utility bill that shows your name and street address on it).

Please call the Taft Early Learning Center if you have any questions (508-278-8643).

All children who are of age to enter Kindergarten shall be screened. Screening takes place in June, prior to a child’s entrance into Kindergarten. Families will receive a letter in May with the dates and times for screening. Parents need to call the number that is on the letter to set up an appointment to have their child screened. The purpose of Kindergarten screening is to gain information regarding your child’s developmental skills such as how they use their body (motor skills), knowledge of basic concepts like counting and colors (conceptual skills), and their use of language.

The skills described above have proved important in helping predict a child’s success in the classroom. The screening tests can help to identify if the child’s skills are appropriate for his/her age at this time or if further testing may be needed. This information can help plan your child’s education, and if necessary, begin to look at any special needs that he/she may have in the school setting.

Full Day: 8:35 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

Bus routes will be published in the local newspapers and on the website.

First Day of School

In order to ease the adjustment into Kindergarten for your child we will hold an Open House.  Date and time will be posted later.

You and your child will have the opportunity to meet the teacher, visit the classroom, get familiar with the building and see the playground.  Bus transportation is not provided on this day, however we will have a bus on our premises so you and your child can board the bus and be introduced to the bus rules, etc.

Before/After School Child Care
