It is hard to believe that we will be beginning a new school
year in a little less than two weeks. It has been a busy
summer here in the Department of Pupil Personnel Services
with many exciting changes to the ways in which we operate
that have provided us with a much improved capacity to
deliver services to the student of Uxbridge Public Schools,
specifically placing administrative assistant support in the
building levels of the district.
During these summer months, we worked tirelessly to increase
communication with the families served within the town of
Uxbridge - by posting new information on the school district
website detailing exactly what Pupil Personnel Services
means and services delivered through this department. As
well, we worked tirelessly to increase Case-E's Individual
Education Program (IEP) capacity to meet the Massachusetts?
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education latest
mandates and regulations for service delivery; and thanks to
the collaborative team efforts of all services providers
within the district have created a newly revised Special
Education Policy and Procedures Manual (See the PPS Webpage
for a complete copy).
Additionally, the extended year program was a huge success
thanks to the efforts of so many dedicated employees.
Families have contacted me throughout the last ten days
stating how thrilled they were with the extended year
program. Through our continued collaborative efforts as a
school district with business leaders, community members,
parents/families, we look forward to continuing this high
quality set of services in the years to come.
As well, a special thank you goes out to faculty, staff,
administration, parents, families, and community/business
leaders who helped with the relocation of our 18 -22 year
old program. The Independence Project as it has come to be
known is now housed at the 15 Mendon Street location.
Welcome to your new home!
I would also like to extend a special welcome to our new
faculty and staff. We have been fortunate to hire many
outstanding people who I am certain will serve our students
well. All new faculty/staff bring with them a wealth of
knowledge and experience to our district and the school
system.
Finally, please be sure to thank Lisa Arguin and Ginette
Goodwin on a job well done this summer. These fine ladies
were asked to do a great deal of work in a short period of
time. Additionally, know that I look forward to working with
everyone in the 2008-2009 academic year.
Once again, I look forward to seeing you on August 25th and
working with you this school year.
Enjoy the last few days of your summer.
Sincerely,
Paul S. Haughey, Ed.D.
Director of Pupil Personnel Services
